Find out what the midfielder made of our final friendly before the season-opener against Genoa

MONZA – Inter rounded off pre-season with yet another win ahead of the opening league game of the season at home to Genoa on Saturday 21 August at San Siro (click HERE for ticket information). Simone Inzaghi’s charges recorded a convincing 3-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, with Nicolo Barella, Edin Dzeko and Stefano Sensi among the goals.

The midfielder spoke to Inter TV at the end of the game: “I’m very pleased about my goal to make it 3-0 and my assist to help us open the scoring, but what matters is the team performance, the way we played and the minutes that we got under our belts. There’s not long until the start of the season and we needed that sort of performance to prepare in the best possible way.”

Sensi discussed Inter’s winning run in pre-season: “It’s positive, but what’s more important than the wins is the intensity that we showed out on the pitch in friendlies and also in the work that we’re doing every day. We’ve managed to get lots of things right, but we know there’s still plenty of room for improvement. Our first league match is on Saturday and we all want to make a good start. We have a week of hard work ahead of us to ensure we’re ready.”

The connection with Edin Dzeko was also mentioned: “He’s a top player and he’ll certainly help us out. He knows his football and I linked up well with him straight away. We’re all pleased to have him here.”

The final word was reserved for the player’s goals for the new campaign: “I hope to find the consistency that I’ve not had over the last two years. I feel physically fit and that’s the most important thing for me.”
