De Vrij, Dumfries, Calhanoglu, Perisic, Brozovic and Skriniar involved in World Cup qualifiers on Friday


MILAN – Six Nerazzurri players turned out for their national sides in 2022 World Cup qualifying matches on Friday evening.

NETHERLANDS EDGE PAST LATVIA

Stefan de Vrij and Denzel Dumfries started and finished the Netherlands' game at Latvia, settled by Davy Klaassen's first-half strike. The result sends the Dutch two points clear at the top of Group G.

CALHANOGLU FEATURES IN TURKEY DRAW

Elsewhere in Group G, Hakan Calhanoglu's Turkey were held to a 1-1 draw by Norway. Kerem Akturkoglu gave the hosts the lead in Istanbul before Kristian Thorstvedt levelled. Calhanoglu played the full 90 minutes. 

PERISIC SETS CROATIA ON WAY TO VICTORY

Croatia remain joint top of Group H after they saw off Cyprus 3-0. Ivan Perisic netted the opener just before half time before Josko Gvardiol and former Inter man Marko Livaja added further goals late on. Perisic played the full game and Marcelo Brozovic stayed on for 84 minutes.

SLOVAKIA BEATEN

Meanwhile Milan Skriniar played 90 minutes and scored an unfortunate own goal as Russia defeated Slovakia 1-0 in Kazan to remain level on points with Croatia.

GROUP G Turkey 1-1 Norway, Calhanoglu  Latvia 0-1 Netherlands, De Vrij, Dumfries

GROUP H Russia 1-0 Slovakia, Skriniar Cyprus 0-3 Croatia, Brozovic, Perisic
