Barella and Martinez nominated for 2021 Ballon d’Or

The Italian midfielder and the Argentine forward are in the running for the prestigious accolade

MILAN – Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez have been named on the 30-man shortlist for the 2021 edition of the Ballon d’Or.

The prestigious award was established by France Football in 1956.

Barella and Martinez both played integral roles in Inter’s 19th Serie A title win in the 2020/21 season. Barella then starred as Italy won the European Championship, while Martinez helped Argentina to Copa America glory.

The awards ceremony will be held in Paris on 29 November.
