Roberto Samaden and Roberto Niccolai deliver presentations in Belgium on the Nerazzurri’s acclaimed youth academy

Inter’s youth academy, along with Sporting Clube de Portugal’s equivalent academy set-up, has been named as a model club for its work in bringing through young footballers at the ‘Talent Development’ event organised by the ECA in Brussels on 26 and 27 October 2021.

Over the two-day event in Belgium, Roberto Samaden, Head of Youth Development and Roberto Niccolai, Head of Conditioning Coaches and Youth Performance, delivered presentations to an audience made up of professionals and representatives from the European Club Association. These delved into Inter’s talent identification system, as well as explaining the importance of scouting, training centres and the Inter Grassroots Programme.

In addition, Samaden and Niccolai gave an overview of the day-to-day work in which the entire academy and its staff are involved in nurturing talent identified by the club, including the daily management of players and partner companies based in different countries. Inter and its youth academy have always worked in close collaboration with its affiliate clubs: from fostering a work philosophy to offering support through training courses, the aim of constant collective growth has never ceased to be an imperative.

The presentations also touched upon Inter’s Educational Programme - which the club deems a vital cog in the academy’s wheel, through which staff and players alike are educated and made aware of various social issues and topics – and the Suning Youth Development Centre, with its boarding school for Nerazzurri youth footballers.
