Full-back plays 90 minutes in crucial victory over Norway, Turkish midfielder provides match-winning assist against Montenegro

Denzel Dumfries and Hakan Calhanoglu were battling in the same group for a place at Qatar 2022 on Tuesday evening.

The full-back helped the Netherlands overcome Norway 2-0 to finish top of Group G and take the automatic qualification berth. Late goals by Steven Bergwijn (84) and Memphis Depay (90+1) did the job at the Stadion Feijenoord De Kuip in Rotterdam, relegating Norway to third place. Dumfries played the full game.

Turkey meanwhile came from behind to edge a 2-1 victory over Montenegro. Fatos Beciraj grabbed an early goal for the hosts but Kerem Akturkoglu levelled then Orkun Kokcu struck the winner on the hour mark courtesy of Calhanoglu's assist. The Nerazzurri man played the full 90 minutes. Three points sees Turkey move above Norway into the Group G play-off spot.
