Midfielder plays 45 minutes in defeat to Bolivia

Matias Vecino was unable to prevent Uruguay slipping to a fourth consecutive defeat in World Cup qualifying on Tuesday, undermining their hopes of reaching Qatar 2022.

Matias played the first 45 minutes of his side's 3-0 loss in Bolivia as goals by Juan Carlos Arce (2) and Marcelo Moreno saw the hosts move to within a point of their opponents in the South American group. Five teams now packed together in three points scrapping for the last two automatic spots and the play-off place.
