The Nerazzurri skipper speaks after the 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid

MADRID - Samir Handanovic took stock after Inter were beaten 2-0 at Real Madrid in their final Champions League group match – a result which sends the Nerazzurri into the draw for the knockout round as the second-placed team.

“We needed to be more aggressive and take more shots,” the captain began. “We played well enough in terms of our overall performance: like in the reverse fixture, we put Real Madrid under pressure. The big difference was in the final ball. We didn't take our chances while Real always make the most of the opportunities they create. We needed to do a bit more.

“The fans got to see a good game. Despite the defeat, this game shows we're doing a lot of things right but if there's one thing we can learn it's that we have to be more clinical.

"In any case, we're through to the next round, which was our first target for the season. We came here looking to top the group but we'll kick on now and focus on the league.”
