Inter's captain gave his thoughts after the game

MILAN - "It's always important to win, regardless of how other teams have done. We wanted to send out a message today, to both ourselves and our opponents. We're on good form, we're feeling good, and we're reaping the rewards for what we've done." Samir Handanovic was clear and to the point in his post-match interview after his side beat Cagliari in Serie A matchday 17.

In terms of how the Nerazzurri can improve, Handanovic had a clear answer:

"The game against Real Madrid springs to mind. We've played against them so many times and it looked like we were going to beat them but we ended up losing. That means something was lacking in our performances. We need to bridge this gap."

The captain gave his thoughts on the Champions League draw taking place tomorrow: "Regardless of who we play we'll play as Inter do, just as we've done so in the other games."
