Perisic: "It’s a pleasure to play in this team, we all battle together"

SALERNO – Ivan Perisic grabbed the opener against Salernitana with a goal that set the Nerazzurri on their way to a convincing 5-0 victory and extend their lead at the top of the table. It was the Croat’s fourth goal of the campaign, equalling his tally in 2020/21. There was a resemblance to his goal against Napoli this time around, with the pinpoint Hakan Calhanoglu once again providing the assist from a corner.

Perisic described his goal and the importance of the win in his post-match interview with DAZN.

“It’s always great to score a goal, but what matters is that the team wins. We did well from the first minute. We’re playing well at the moment and you can see that on the pitch. We’re all defending and attacking together, which means we’ve struck the right balance.

“We’re doing well and have to keep it up. The match against Napoli could’ve been the turning point, but we also produced impressive performances beforehand, such as in the derby. I now play as a wide player in a five-man midfield, rather than as a winger. I do more defending, but it’s a pleasure to play in this team. Next up is Torino, which is our chance to end the year on a high and we want to win that one as well.”
