INTER SOUNDTRACKS | The 2010 Spotify Playlist

25 music hits to bring you back to the year of the Treble!

The third instalment of Inter Soundtracks is here, the playlist that allows us to leap into the past: the seasons of great Nerazzurri successes retold with 25 hits from that year. After having listened to the most famous songs from 1998 (the year of the Uefa Cup) and 1989 (the record-breaking Scudetto), on the day of Inter's birthday we relive the magical year that was 2010, the year of the Treble.

It will be like this forever. Whenever an Inter fan thinks about 2010, they board a train of memories that takes them straight to those days between 5 and 22 May 2010. Those of the Treble. But there are fans and rivals on that train, all passionate about football: because that journey was unrepeatable, a journey never explored before in Italy, it was unique and legendary. Inter, champions of everything: Coppa Italia, Scudetto, Champions League. And then the Italian Super Cup and the Club World Cup to add to it. Five trophies, a cascade of memories, characters, and images that always come vividly back to the surface.

There weren’t many pieces of rock history to be found, in that 2010 that is so dear to us. The soundtrack of that season includes hits from big names like Lady Gaga and Rihanna, for example. By Katy Perry and Ke$ha, with their catchy tunes. And if Ligabue, Jovanotti and Cremonini were the biggest hits in Italy, perhaps the most symbolic song of 2010 was Waka Waka by Shakira.

The anthem of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the first on the African continent, accompanied by sounds of the vuvuzela. A winter World Cup, one to forget for Italy, despite being the reigning champions. Iniesta scored in extra time against Holland to win the World Cup for Spain. Footballing history.

History was also made by Francesca Schiavone in Paris, as she became the first Italian to come out on top at Roland Garros. An epic success, in a particularly epic year for tennis, with the longest match ever being played between Isner and Mahut at Wimbledon (11 hours and 5 minutes!)

For Inter fans, 2010 will certainly always remain the one and only year of the Treble, and therefore other sporting moments are swallowed up by the wonders of Diego Milito in Rome, Siena, and Madrid. El Principe wasn’t even included in the shortlist for the Ballon d'Or, which was won by Messi, and with Wesley Sneijder coming in fourth despite being top scorer at the World Cup (his story is in the playlist, with "10 number 10”).

The most glittering gold of 2010 belonged to Giuliano Razzoli, the winner of the Olympic slalom in Vancouver, an accomplishment similar to Alberto Tomba. In Formula 1, 2010 was the first year of dominance for Sebastian Vettel, who won the World Championship ahead of Fernando Alonso.

A year that will go down in the history books as including the end of the war in Iraq, the tremendous earthquake in Haiti which killed over 200,000 people and an unprecedented worldwide mobilisation, and the succession in command of North Korea. And among all theses events, the Burj Khalifa was completed in Dubai, the tallest skyscraper in the world.

If the music was pop, then the list of the most popular films make 2010 a golden year: Avatar, Inception, Shutter Island, Incivtus, The Social Network. It could be worse.
