MILAN – Many happy returns, Romelu! Today, Lukaku is celebrating his second birthday in a Nerazzurri shirt and his first as a Champion of Italy. For the Belgian striker, the celebrations began on the pitch yesterday evening: after being set up by Hakimi, he scored the goal that put Inter vs. Roma to bed.
Born in Antwerp, Belgium, on 13 May 1993, he officially became an Inter player on 8 August 2019, but his affiliation with the Nerazzurri colours goes beyond that:
"When I’m on the San Siro pitch, I realise that I’ve fulfilled one of my lifelong dreams: I always wanted to play for Inter. Wearing this shirt is an incredible source of pride and winning is amazing. I’m an Interista!”
In his second season at the Nerazzurri, he’s been an inspirational figure with his goals and record-breaking achievements. So far, he’s scored 28 this campaign, 22 of which have come in the league (15 at San Siro in Serie A). He’s also set up a teammate to score on eleven occasions in the Italian top flight: in the past 16 seasons, no Inter player has registered more assists in a single Serie A season (Maicon also provided eleven in 2009/10). What’s more, Lukaku has passed the 300-goal mark in the professional game. 62 of these finishes have come in 93 Inter appearances.
Powerful, determined and decisive: best birthday wishes to Romelu Lukaku from everyone in the Nerazzurri world!
