Girls in the town of Cawama are ready to perform in a local production Muke, meaning “woman” in Swahili.

CAWAMA – Sarah Mukadi is an artist, ballerina, choreographer, actress, activist and along with the dancing group Munia has selected girls from Inter Campus to feature in the preparations for her latest show Muke

The premise is a dance for freedom that invites women and girls to live freely without being shackled by social norms that limit their potential, their deeds and simply their lives.

Sarah understands being an artist in Congo is particularly difficult for a woman and that her career path attracts hostility and prejudice. Through her new show, she hopes to give a platform to women to ‘free themselves’ and to feel confident about being themselves whilst fulfilling their potential also through art.

The Munia group will receive support from UNICEF Congo for this initiative.
