Nerazzurri delegation visit UEFA Foundation in Nyon to present child development project in Africa

NYON – Inter Campus has paid a visit to UEFA headquarters in Switzerland to present the results of a UEFA Foundation-backed project in Angola, Cameroon, Congo and Uganda.

The study analysed how football helped improve boys and girls' resilience over a two-year period.

After an initial scientific assessment in the four countries involved, the main strengths and weaknesses of the children were identified so that specific exercises could be employed based on their needs.

At the end of the period, the same parameters – which included optimism, tolerance, support and confidence – were measured and demonstrated the real effectiveness of sport as a tool for healthy personal development.

The positive indicators increased by 18% in Cameroon, and 13%, 12% and 7% in Congo, Uganda and Angola, respectively.

Vulnerabilities decreased too: by 20% in Cameroon and Congo, 16% in Uganda and 13% in Angola.

Despite different starting points, all the children involved showed similar levels of improvement, with highly positive results.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the UEFA Foundation for co-financing the initiative.
