The defender spoke after his side's 3-1 triumph over Cagliari

CAGLIARI – After winning the Coppa Italia final away from home the Nerazzurri claimed another victory on the road, this time 3-1 in Cagliari thanks to goals by Matteo Darmian and Lautaro Martinez.

Following the match Alessandro Bastoni shared his thoughts with the media:

“In the dressing room before the game we said to ourselves that we shouldn’t drop any points and give anyone anything. We want to be in with a shout of winning the Scudetto until the last kick of the ball this Serie A season. I’m delighted with our performance today; we played with the right attitude and I’d like to congratulate my team-mates on this win because beating Cagliari away from home is no easy task.

“We need to look forwards, not backwards. We’ll start preparing for the Sampdoria game with the aim of winning it and we’ll then see how other results have gone. There’s no doubt that there’s a lingering sense of regret for the points we’ve dropped along the way, but there’s no point in dwelling on it. Personally speaking I feel good; I’ve recovered from injury. It’s a shame the season is drawing to a close but I’m ready to be involved with Italy.

“As for Ivan Perisic, as ever he’s on fire, he’s a true pro. Just three days ago he was busting a lung at the end of the game and once again today he showed more energy than any other player. I was joking with him and I asked him: “What do you eat to be as strong as you are?” I’ve since seen that he eats bread, avocado, and chicken, so that’s that I guess!”
