Inter beaten on Matchday 5 of the Champions League league phase: the hosts took the lead through Alvarez (after a lengthy VAR check), Zielinski equalised, but Gimenez scored in the 93rd minute to seal the win for Atletico.

Inter suffered a cruel defeat in Madrid on Matchday 5 of the UEFA Champions League league phase. The Nerazzurri were beaten 2-1 by Atletico Madrid in a match they dominated, in terms of both quality and quantity of goalscoring chances. The loss came following an early goal from Alvarez, confirmed after a lengthy VAR check, and a 93rd-minute header from Gimenez off a corner. In between, Zielinski had brought Inter level. Despite creating numerous opportunities throughout the match, Inter were ultimately undone by a set-piece goal in the dying moments.

After five matches, Inter remain on 12 points and will face Liverpool next at the Meazza.
