Atletico Madrid vs. Inter 1 - 1

A game with a European touch to it, played in a unique and incredible setting. Chivu's side were beaten by Atlético Madrid on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time, in a valuable friendly hosted at the renovated Benghazi International Stadium.

The game got off to a lively start, with Inter playing with confidence and creating the first chance after just three minutes: Bonny fired a strong shot, only to be denied by Musso. Atlético responded with Griezmann, but his shot was offside. As the first half continued, the Colchoneros found their feet. Martinez kept Inter in the game with several brilliant saves, first from Carlos Martinez and then from Almada, who took a shot on a chip. In the 35th minute, Atleético took the lead with Carlos Martin's run inside the box and found space for a left-footed shot, and beat Martinez with a clinical shot. The first half ended 1-0 to the Spanish side.

Inter soon took control in the second half with a deserved equaliser in the 59th minute. Mkhitaryan delivered the perfect corner, and Bisseck headed it past Musso. Confidence grew, and the score was 1-1. There were several opportunities for Inter in the second half, with Kaczmarski's long-range shot in the 73rd minute and Agbonifo in the 76th. Atletico took a shot with Barrios, but Martinez was quick to deny him. It was 1-1 at regular time, pushing the game to penalties.

During the penalty shootout, Griezmann opened for Atlético and scored, with Venturini responding for Inter. Koke hit the crossbar. Lavelli gave Inter the advantage, but Atletico responded with Ruggeri. Luis Henrique was denied by Musso, O. Janneh scored, Acerbi was denied, and Lenglet sealed the victory for the Colchoneros. Overall, it was a valuable test for Inter, giving them some game time and a chance to improve their play. Their performance in the second half was particularly promising.
