Unmatched footballing intelligence, determination and resilience, technical quality and positional awareness: these were the qualities that made Esteban Cambiasso a crucial figure in a victorious and unforgettable Inter side. A midfielder who could anticipate every situation and combine quality and strength, Il Cuchu enjoyed ten spectacular seasons with the Nerazzurri. He arrived in Milano in the summer of 2004 and went on to make 431 appearances and score 51 goals for Inter, earning a special place in the hearts of every Interisti.
A rock in front of the defence and a metronome in midfield, Cambiasso could make the difference in front of goal, scoring goals that were both decisive and spectacular, such as his strike in the 2006 Coppa Italia final against Roma and his goal in the first leg of the 2010 Champions League Round of 16 against Chelsea.
His incredible Nerazzurri career saw him write unforgettable chapters in the Club's history, winning 15 trophies: five Scudetti, four Coppe Italia, four Italian Super Cups, one FIFA Club World Cup and one Champions League, which he celebrated wearing the iconic number three shirt previously worn by Giacinto Facchetti. A symbol of Interismo, in 2021 he was chosen by the Nerazzurri fans to enter the Club's Hall of Fame.
Born in Buenos Aires on 18 August 1980, Il Cuchu turns 46 today, and FC Internazionale Milano and all Nerazzurri fans wish him a very happy birthday.
