Cordoba 50: Happy Birthday, Ivan!

Twelve years in which he etched his name into Inter's history, twelve seasons that left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of the Nerazzurri faithful. A rock-solid and explosive defender who brought grit and focus to the pitch, Ivan Ramiro Córdoba enjoyed unforgettable years in the Inter shirt, making 455 appearances, putting him tenth in the Club's all-time appearance rankings, and winning 15 trophies. The first Colombian player in Inter's history, Córdoba arrived in Milano in January 2000 and immediately established himself as an important figure in the Nerazzurri defence thanks to his qualities. A quick, agile and explosive centre-back, he went on to become a leader both on the pitch and in the dressing room. He also made his presence felt in the opposition box thanks to his impeccable timing, as demonstrated by the 15 goals he scored for the club. In 2005, when Inter won the Coppa Italia, he was the one to lift the trophy as captain. That Coppa Italia was the former Colombian defender's first trophy as an Inter player, the first triumph in a trophy cabinet that he would go on to fill in the following seasons with five Serie A titles, three Coppa Italia trophies, four Italian Super Cups, one Champions League and one FIFA Club World Cup. His career also saw him play a leading role for Colombia, with whom he won a historic Copa América in 2001, scoring the decisive goal in the final against Mexico.
