Inter vs. Porto: the full guide

European nights are returning, the Champions League is back! On Wednesday 22 February, with kick-off at 21:00 CET, the Nerazzurri face Porto in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16. Inter earned their place in the Last 16 thanks to finishing second in Group C, while Porto won Group B, which included Club Brugge, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen. The Portuguese side qualified with four victories, after opening their campaign with two defeats.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

All four meetings between Inter and Porto came in the Champions League in 2005: Inter remained undefeated in the 2004/05 Round of 16 tie with the Nerazzurri earning a win and a draw in the two-legged affair, fondly remembered for Adriano's hattrick at San Siro. The following season the two sides met again, this time in the group stages, with both getting a victory apiece.

THE SWAN IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Edin Dzeko has made six appearances in this season's Champions League, and been involved in four goals. The Bosnian has scored three times and made one assist: no other Inter player has done better than Edin, who is the Club's current top scorer in this year's edition.

DEFENDERS IN ATTACK

Alessandro Bastoni has the most number of assists in Inter's 2022/23 Champions League: Bastoni made the key pass to Nicolò Barella in the game at Camp Nou against Barcelona and one for Henrikh Mkhitaryan against Viktoria Plzen, played at San Siro.

Federico Dimarco has also made vital contributions in attack: the wideman has created seven goalscoring chances in this year's Champions League; no other Nerazzurri player has done better than Dimarco.
