— Nov 9th 2025The words of the Nerazzurri coach after Inter's 2-0 win over Lazio
Inter claimed a crucial 2-0 win at San Siro against Lazio on Matchday 11 of the Serie A season. The Nerazzurri secured the victory thanks to Lautaro Martínez’s first-half strike and Bonny’s close-range finish after the break — a vital result that takes Inter to the top of the table on 24 points, level with Roma. These were Cristian Chivu's comments after the match:
“Lautaro’s goal is the result of all the hard work he’s been putting in. Goals come when you’re calm, confident and aware of your role as a leader and driving force. He needs to smile more — he has to realise just how important he is for this team. He leads by example, through his effort and attitude. I really liked our approach and our desire to be dominant and determined, knowing that Lazio are a well-organised side capable of creating problems at any moment. I’ve got a group of 22 players who all work hard to improve individually and to help the team grow. It’s never easy, because you can lose balance, but I’m satisfied with what they’re doing: they all grasped what it means to play for Inter this evening. Even so, they're aware that everyone still has room for improvement. It’s never simple when you play every three days: you have to read the forecast and take the opportunities the schedule gives you. Credit goes to all those who’ve stepped up in the rotations, allowing others to rest. Today was our seventh match in 18 or 19 days, so energy is vital. I’m working with champions who enjoy the process and always work to meet the coach’s demands. During the international break, I’ll spend some time with my family and take a few days off, while continuing to work with the players who stay behind. When everyone’s back, we’ll have two days to prepare for the derby.”
