Ten-man Inter came back against Monaco and won our first overseas friendly of the 2025/26 preseason, following our win over Inter U23s. The turnaround, after Calhanoglu was sent off, was sealed by Lautaro and then Ange-Yoan Bonny who made it 2-1 towards the end of a tough game in which the Nerazzurri showed great character. These are Cristian Chivu's words after the game at the Stade Louis-II in Monte Carlo.
“It's an August preparation game, with our legs still not working as they normally should, but it was still a great test. We need to get playing as there's not much time left with only 17 days until the league starts. I will take back with us the character and will shown to turn the game around despite the difficulties that come when playing a man down. It's difficult analysing the game as we are still not at our physical best but we put in a lot of hard work. We are obviously still missing real decisiveness in front of goal and with eleven men we missed a few great chances in the first 20 minutes. The result doesn't interest me much, but I want the team to gain confidence and fuel for what lies ahead. I manage Inter, a strong group of players who can improve in every aspect, both individually and as a collective. This is what I explain to them everyday. ”
