Inter put in another solid performance, drawing 2-2 in normal time before winning on penalties at Monza in their third pre-season friendly. The match allowed the Nerazzurri to accumulate more minutes on the pitch ahead of their first competitive fixtures. This is what Cristian Chivu had to say from the U-Power Stadium.
“We’ve clocked up minutes on the pitch. Those who played less against Monaco had more game time today. We’re trying to build our fitness levels while managing the workload; after Monaco, we even had a double training session. The lads gave their best tonight. I aim to instil responsibility and expect every player to give their best daily, also growing in motivation as the league approaches. We must be ready to remain the competitive team we’ve been in recent years. I see commitment, effort and motivation. After two weeks of training, it’s not easy to be sharp, but the team are doing their best from a mental point of view, even if there’s always room to improve. We’re focused on building fitness. We decided to play four friendlies in four weeks of training. It’s not simple, and it’s a new situation, but we’re trying to turn it to our advantage with this workload and these matches to be ready for the first game.”
