A comeback draw, secured thanks to a superb second-half performance from Inter, who recovered from two goals down against home side Roma. The game at the Olimpico showcased great quality, but above all the grit and character of the Nerazzurri, who once again showed that they never give up, as they have already demonstrated at the start of this season.
After the game, Nerazzurri coach Cristian Chivu analysed the match:
“I’ll start with the second half. I said what I needed to say about the first half at half-time, and that stays between me and my players. In the second half, I saw the right attitude, grit and personality. We put in a great performance against a team that we know very well and understand what they represent. In the second half, we brought something extra compared to what we’ve shown at the start of this season. I think it was a good game and this is a good point, in a stadium where it’s difficult to play and against a very strong opponent. There are things we need to improve, but the players know that too. We need to do better in how we approach games and understand the opposition, and match their intensity. That’s part of it, though: you learn and move forward. Compared to last year, at this stage of the season, we’re in a better position. We have 13 points and we’ve faced two direct clashes against Napoli and Roma. This is a good result, although there’s still a long way to go and plenty to work on. I would also like to extend my condolences to Sandro Mazzola’s family. We have lost a football and Inter icon, a true legend not only for Italy but for the whole world.”
