Inter are preparing for their Champions League trip to Rotterdam, where they will face Feyenoord on Tuesday 3 November at 21:00 CET in Matchday 4 of the 2026/27 league phase. Ahead of the clash, Nerazzurri head coach Cristian Chivu spoke to the media at his pre-match press conference at Stadion Feijenoord "De Kuip".
What are you expecting from the match, and above all, from your team?
"I believe in hard work and I believe in this team, in what they've achieved and what they can still achieve. They're great champions and they've proved that over the years. They've set high standards and helped take Inter to the top. There will always be setbacks and mistakes, but we have to learn from them and move forward."
What memories do you have of this stadium?
"I won the Dutch Cup here. I know what this stadium means to Feyenoord and I know what the atmosphere is like. It won't be easy playing in such a hostile environment, but that's part of the appeal. It's why we play in the Champions League, and it's a pleasure to face teams like this."
Do you remember the rivalry between Ajax and Feyenoord?
"We have a Champions League match coming up, so I don't have time to dwell on the past. But as a former Ajax player, coming back here is certainly special."
How many points are you aiming for in the Champions League league phase?
"We're taking it one game at a time. We know that around 16 points are needed to finish in the top eight, and we currently have three. We're well aware that this won't be an easy game, but we know who we are and what we want to achieve. I'm confident we'll put in a great performance."
What kind of opposition are you expecting?
"Feyenoord tend to raise their game at home in the Champions League. They play with great intensity and have plenty of quality, particularly in attack, with standout players such as Hadj Moussa and Zechiël. They have players who are excellent in one-on-one situations and a striker who knows how to bring his team-mates into play. We need to make the most of our own strengths."
How is the squad looking?
"We've had to manage a couple of difficult situations and find solutions with the players available to us. Provedel is back, and Pavard has also returned to training with the squad after his injury."
