Zanchetta’s side couldn’t come out on top of the derby against AC Milan. After a 2-2 scoreline at 90 minutes, the Rossoneri won 6-4 on penalties

The Inter U20's adventure in the Coppa Italia comes to the end in the quarters. After a hard-fought 2-2 draw in regular time against AC Milan, the Nerazzurri lost on penalties. A match full of emotions, twists and turns that ended with the bitter elimination for coach Zanchetta's boys.

Inter started the first half with determination, but in the first few minutes struggled to create clear chances. In the 11th and 15th minutes, Cocchi tried from the distance but did not trouble Longoni. In the 31st minute, AC Milan took the lead in a dramatic way: Bakuone put a tight ball into the center and an unfortunate deflection by Cocchi sent the ball into our own goal. The Nerazzurri reaction was immediate: in the 33rd minute, Aidoo kicked from an off-centre position, saved by Longoni. The well-deserved goal came in the 44th minute: splendid move on the right, with Aidoo serving Mosconi, who did well to be ready for the tap-in to make it 1-1.

Inter started the second half with more conviction. In the 57th minute, the Nerazzurri went ahead: Berenbruch took advantage of an empty net and scored from the left on an assist from Cocchi. AC Milan equalised in the 68th minute through Liberali, with a great shot from the edge of the box after a nice one-man move. Three minutes later the Rossoneri would have a chance to turn the game around: the penalty awarded for Venturini's foul on Eletu, however, was sent over the crossbar by Liberali. The final moments were balanced, with little excitement and the teams tired at the final whistle on 2-2.

From the penalty spot, Inter's mistakes and Longoni's saves were decisive: Lavelli and Pinotti saw their attempts saved, while AC Milan made no mistakes with Bonomi, Perrucci, Eletu and Perina, the latter scoring the winner. The final result rewards the Rossoneri, who win 6-4 on penalties, leaving the Nerazzurri with a bitter taste in their mouths for a game played with grit and determination but that ended with elimination from the Coppa Italia.
