— 1 hour agoThe English wing-back came on for Diouf in the 73rd minute, making his first appearance for Inter in the win over Parma.
It was the 73rd minute when Djed Spence’s name first appeared on the big screen at San Siro. The crowd rose to its feet, roaring as the Englishman made his official debut for Inter. With a smile on his face and a hint of nerves at the sight of the Nerazzurri faithful at the Meazza, Djed stepped onto the pitch with the right attitude. It took just a few minutes for him to unleash his first explosive burst of pace, greeted by a roar from San Siro. His low cross looked destined to find Bonny unmarked at the far post, but a Parma defender got a touch on the ball and diverted it behind for a corner. Spence was heavily involved throughout his first 27 minutes as an Inter player. In the 83rd minute, he delivered a perfect cross for Lautaro, whose header flew narrowly over the bar. There was still time for another counter-attack and one more powerful surge forward in the closing stages. He seemed to fly down the right flank whenever he opened up his stride, setting in motion a move that developed on the edge of the Parma penalty area before Bonny brought it to a close, only to be denied once again by the Gialloblù defence. At the final whistle, the stadium erupted in celebration, and Djed soaked up the first applause from a jubilant Meazza. His Inter story had officially begun.
After the match, the English wing-back spoke to Inter TV about his first official appearance in Nerazzurri colours. Here is what he had to say:
“I’m really happy to have made my debut in this beautiful stadium in front of these fantastic fans. They gave me an incredible welcome. It was a great feeling. The past few weeks have been difficult as I worked my way back from injury, but I’m happy to be back and I want to thank the fans. I think we need to maintain this consistency in our upcoming games and keep playing at this tempo to win matches. The coach is very good at making sure we always stay fully focused, and I believe we’re heading in the right direction.”
