Three goals and three points earned. This is the best way to summarise an evening at San Siro which saw a very good and efficient Inter side craft a stunning and crucial win over Empoli, play after play. Lautaro Martinez's wonder strike, Dumfries' flying header, and Thuram's decisive finish sealed the win, lifting Inter to 47 points in the standings. Assistant Coach Massimiliano Farris shared his thoughts on the match.
“Initially, we expected Empoli to be slightly more aggressive, but in the second half they pushed higher up when they were trailing. In the first half, it was almost like a strategic setup. Then, we did what we always do, we moved the ball quickly, disrupted their reference points and then went ahead through our striker who is back to doing what he does best. We played Bologna the other night, now we're heading Prague, we've recorded 12 wins and three losses since the first derby, the team has scored 55 goals, we're on course for the knockout round in the Champions League without the need for a qualifying match, and we proceeded to the next round of Coppa Italia. Now, we need to focus on rotating and recovering in terms of some key players, because having them back would make a huge difference. San Siro is a tough place to come to, and the staff want to commend Asllani because for his standout performance. He's proven that he belongs here. Taremi? When we analyse the matches and see his movements and how much he helps the team, we have great confidence in him and are sure that he will give us a huge helping hand. When Simone isn't here, the responsibility of being five metres forward or backward in the technical is felt and I am happy to have contributed my part. ”
