The team will play their Serie A opener against Lecce on Saturday 13 August

MILAN – The friendly against Villarreal in Pescara brought the curtain down on Inter’s pre-season, which started with a 4-1 victory away to Lugano on 12 July and continued with three matches against Ligue 1 sides. First, the Nerazzurri drew 2-2 against Monaco in Ferrara. Then came a 1-0 defeat to Lens on the road and a 2-2 stalemate against Olympique Lyonnais in Cesena.

These were five matches against really solid sides and they allowed Inter to prepare for the start of the 2022/23 Serie A campaign, which, for Inzaghi’s men, will kick off against Lecce at the Stadio Via del Mare at 20:45 CEST on Saturday 13 August.

The game against newly promoted Lecce will be the first showdown in an action-packed August for the Nerazzurri, who will take to the pitch on four occasions. After their opener in Apulia, Inter will make their return to San Siro in front of their home crowd at 20:45 CEST on Saturday 20 August, the day they face Spezia.

The team’s league campaign will then continue away to Lazio, who they’ll face at 20:45 CEST on Friday 26 August. The month will conclude with the first midweek round of fixtures of the season: Inter are scheduled to face newly promoted Cremonese at 20:45 CEST on Tuesday 30 August at San Siro.

Once August is over, September will begin with two big clashes: at 18:00 CEST on Saturday 3 September, the Nerazzurri will take on Milan in the derby on matchday five. The cross-city clash will be played just before the team’s first Champions League fixture on either Tuesday 6 or Wednesday 7 September. The exact date will be decided by the group stage draw, which will take place on Thursday 25 August.
