Serie C, Inter U23 lose away to Giana Erminio

A disappointing away trip for Inter U23, who were beaten by Giana Erminio on matchday 37 of Serie C. In Gorgonzola, the Nerazzurri battled throughout and created chances, especially in the second half, but were punished by fine margins. Samele scored with a tap-in in the first half, before Galeandro converted a stoppage-time penalty to wrap up the win. For the Nerazzurri, it all goes down to the final day of the season, with Inter currently twelfth on 48 points, two points behind Arzignano, who sit tenth and hold the final playoff spot.

The hosts started brightly and were immediately dangerous: in the eleventh minute, Vitale's curling left-footed effort was deflected behind for a corner by Alexiou, while Renda came close to opening the scoring with a shot that went just wide a minute later. Inter U23 responded in the 19th minute through Spinaccé, but his effort from the edge of the box was blocked by a teammate.

The game remained intense and, with 33 minutes on the clock, Giana Erminio took the lead: Galeandro broke down the left and squared for Samele, who slotted home from close range to make it 1-0. It was a setback for the Nerazzurri, but they stayed in the game. After 39 minutes, Mazza produced a fine save to keep out La Gumina's right-footed effort. Late in the half, the hosts thought they had doubled their lead through Galeandro, but the goal was ruled out for a foul on the Inter goalkeeper. After four minutes of added time, the first half ended 1-0.

After the break, Inter U23 came out with greater intent. In the 51st minute, Kamate looked to spark the Nerazzurri with a shot from the edge of the box, but Mazza was equal to his attempt. Giana Erminio responded in the 63rd minute, but an alert Melgrati thwarted Colombara. The hosts threatened again through Rizzo, whose left-footed effort went wide (69'), while Prestia then headed towards goal at the other end, only to be foiled by Mazza (73').

Late on, the home side created a big chance on the counter through Ruffini, who was denied by a brilliant stop from Melgrati. In stoppage time, Giana Erminio were awarded a penalty, with Galeandro stepping up to score from the spot and seal a 2-0 win for the home side.
