An illustrious recognition for Inter President and CEO Sport Giuseppe Marotta, who accepted the 2024 Nils Liedholm Award at the Villa Boemia in Cuccaro Monferrato on Tuesday 12 November. Now in its 13th edition, the coveted award is given to a figure from the world of football who, during their career, has not only stood out for their sporting achievements, but, in doing so, also displayed the style, elegance and class that distinguished Nils Liedholm.

The following explanation was given as to why Giuseppe Marotta won the award: "For a path of constant growth that has led to him reaching the pinnacle in national sports management and beyond, all the while never forgetting the human values, respect and elegance that drive the leadership style he adopts in every position he holds".

“I'd like to thank the jury for this award. It’s an honour for me to receive it because Liedholm was an important figure in my life. When I was twelve years old, Nils was the coach of Varese. I lived 150 metres from the stadium where the team used to train. As soon as I got back from school, I would enter the stadium and follow training from up close. Those were the moments where I learnt my first lessons from Liedholm. His human nature allowed him to manage the group in the best way possible, beyond technical and tactical aspects. I found Liedholm’s approach inspirational. He was quiet and calm. ”
