The Nerazzurri will be in action at the Dall'Ara on Saturday 23 May at 18:00 CEST: everything you need to know about the clash

With Inter already Champions of Italy, it's time for the final clash of the Serie A 2025/26 campaign at the Dall'Ara against Bologna on matchday 38 of the league. The match, scheduled for Saturday 23 May at 18:00 CEST, will see the Nerazzurri take to the pitch for the last time in this triumphant season, in which they have won their 21st Scudetto and the tenth Coppa Italia.

The reverse fixture took place on matchday 18 of Serie A, and was Inter's first game of 2026: the Nerazzurri won 3-1 at San Siro thanks to goals from Zielinski, Lautaro, and Thuram.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS

Inter and Bologna have played each other 157 times in Serie A, with the Nerazzurri dominating the head-to-head record with 76 wins, 37 draws, and 44 defeats. The Rossobluù have proven to be a tough opponent in recent seasons, as highlighted by the balanced record over the last eight encounters, which have featured three wins each and two draws.

Inter have won two of their last six Serie A games against Bologna (two draws, two losses), after winning four of the last five (one loss). They have not won both league fixtures against the Rossobluù in a single season since 2020/21.

Over the last five seasons, Inter have scored 21 goals in nine Serie A matches against Bologna, averaging 2.3 per game. The Nerazzurri only hold a better record against four other teams since 2021/22: Hellas Verona (25), Lazio (23), Atalanta and Cagliari (22).

THE NERAZZURRI'S NUMBERS

Inter head into matchday 38 of Serie A with 86 points and boast the best attack in the league with 86 goals scored. In the last five seasons, only once has a team finished the Italian top league with more goals, with Inter themselves being the record bearers in 2023/25 (89). It has been a triumphant season from an attacking perspective, as show by the Field Tilt index for possession in the final third in this Serie A campaign (71%), the best statistic in the league and clear mark of their dominance on the pitch.

The Nerazzurri are also in the lead for the most goals from open play (58) and goals scored from set-pieces (28). Dead-ball sitations have been a clear advanta point in Inter's victory of their 21st Scudetto: the goal against Hellas Verona was Inter 18th from a corner in this

THE CAPTAIN'S SEASON

It's El Toro's final game of the season, and he has one more chance to add even more to the numbers from an extraordinary season in which he lifted his second Scudetto as captain. Lautaro has scored 17 goals over 29 appearances, and leads the Serie A top scorers' chart with a four-goal lead over the chasing pack made up of Thuram, Malen, and Douvikas, all on 13. The captain could become just the second player to win both the Scudetto and the Serie A top scorer award with Inter more than once, after Giuseppe Meazza (1929/30 and 1937/38).

The 17 league goals this season have taken Lautaro to 132 Serie A goals, all scored while representing Inter. With one more goal, he would overtake both Stefano Nyers (133) and Roberto Pruzzo (133), and be third among Inter's all-time league scorers and 39th on the Serie A all-time scoring chart.

The captain will be hoping to close out the season with a goal against Bologna, a side against whom he has scored five times already. However, all five of those goals have been at San Siro. Lautaro will now have the opportunity to score his first at the Dall'Ara, one of only three stadiums in Serie A where he has not yet found the net (the other two being the Paolo Mazza in Ferrara and the Ezio Scida in Crotone).

DIMARCO, ACERBI, BISSECK: FIRSTS AND SPECIAL OCCASIONS

Several Inter players have found the net against the Rossoblù during their careers, with some of these goals being extra special. For example, Francesco Acerbi scored his first goals for the Nerazzurri in the 2-2 draw with Bologna on 7 October 2023. Bisseck also scored his first away goal on 9 March 2024 against Bologna at the Dall'Ara. Federico Dimarco scored his only Serie A brace to date against the Rossoblù on 9 November 2022 at San Siro, while Piotr Zielinski has been involved in seven goals against the side from Emilia (two goals and five assists), with his most recent goal coming in the reverse fixture this season. He has only recorded more goal involvements against Sassuolo (eight). Henrikh Mkhitaryan has also scored twice against Bologna and could finish a league season with five goals for the first time since 2021/22, when he was playing for Roma.

THE OPPONENT

Bologna head into the final matchday of the league season with eighth place already secured. Vincenzo Italiano's squad have recorded 52 points from 37 matches, with 16 wins, 7 draws, and 14 defeats. They have fallen short of European qualification.

The Rossoblù's form has been inconsistent, especially when at home, with nine defeats at the Dall'Ara in this league campaign (they've won 6 times at home and drawn 3 times). Only Pisa (13) and Hellas Verona (12) have suffered more home losses than Bologna, who have only lost more home games once in their history (ten in the 2008/09 season).

Italiano's squad head into this fixture on the back of two consecutive victories after beating Napoli and Atalanta, and could make it three wins in a row against teams above them in the table for the first time since 2019. The Rossoblù will aim to capitalise on their attack one last time, as it is the attack that have contributed to 72% of their goals: 33 out of their 46 goals have come from forwards, the highest share in the league. Riccardo Orsolini will be unavailable after scoring his tenth league goal in the last matchday and reaching double digits in Serie A for the fourth consecutive season. However, Santiago Castro will be available to Italiano, and Castro has already scored twice against Inter and is just one goal away from matching the eight he scored last season. Jonathan Rowe will also be available; he boasts the highest dribbling success rate among players with at least 80 attempted dribbles in Serie A this season: 52.2%, with 47 completed out of 90.
