8 MIN READING

After Easter victory against Roma, Inter are preparing to take to the field again. The Nerazzurri face Como at the Sinigaglia on Sunday April 12 at 20:45 CEST on matchday 32 of Serie A.

Inter return to Como forty days after the last time, when the Nerazzurri faced Como in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final, which ended 0-0. The two sides will meet again at San Siro for the return leg on Tuesday 21 April. Sunday’s match will therefore be the third of four meetings between Inter and Como this season: in the league reverse fixture, the Nerazzurri won 4-0 (Lautaro, Thuram, Calhanoglu, Carlos Augusto).

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

The game at the Sinigaglia on April 12 will be the 30th time Inter and Como meet in Serie A. The record favours the Nerazzurri with 20 wins, compared to Como's six, complete with three draws. Overall, Inter have won each of their last ten league matches Como, with an aggregate score of 24-2. The Nerazzurri have not recorded a longer winning streak against any other side. Inter are also on a run of six consecutive clean sheets against Como. However, five of Como’s six Serie A wins over Inter have come at the Sinigaglia Stadium.

MATCH NUMBERS

Since the start of 2026, the Nerazzurri have set a strong pace in the league: Inter have collected 36 points, more than any other team. Como, however, rank second over the same period with 31 points, level with Atalanta and Napoli. The same pattern, and interestingly the same numbers, applies to goals scored in 2026: 36 for Inter and 31 for Como, the same as Juventus.

The two sides also have similarities in their style of play. Inter boast the third-best attack across Europe’s top five leagues with 71 goals (behind Bayern Munich on 100 and Barcelona on 80), and they have scored more goals than any other Serie A team in five of the six 15-minute segments of matches. The only period they don’t lead is between the 46th and 60th minute, where they have scored 10 goals. In the opening 15 minutes, Inter have eleven goals, with Como second on ten; in the final 15 minutes, the Nerazzurri have scored 17, compared to Como’s 13. Chivu’s side also lead the league for headed goals (16) and have scored the most goals from outside the box (ten) - a tally matched by Inter. The Nerazzurri and the Lariani also boast the two best conversion rates in Serie A, with Inter at 12.8% and Como at 12.1%.

It’s not just about attacking strength, but defensive solidity as well: Inter and Como have recorded the most clean sheets in the league this season, both with 15. Fabregas’ side, with just 22 goals conceded, have the best defensive record across Europe’s top five leagues, level with Arsenal. Inter and Como have also faced the fewest total shots in Serie A: 261 for the Nerazzurri and 281 for Como.

LAUTARO STRIKES EARLY

Against Roma, Lautaro Martinez scored the fastest league goal of his career in Italy. The Argentine needed just one minute exactly to open the scoring in the Easter clash with the Giallorossi. It’s a stat that highlights one of his standout traits: Lautaro has now scored seven goals in the opening five minutes of Serie A matches. Since his debut in 2018/19, no player has done better than the Nerazzurri captain (Lukaku and Dybala are both on six).

In Inter’s history, only Meazza (12) and Lorenzi (eight) have scored more goals in the first five minutes than Lautaro, who, with seven, is level with Istvan Nyers and Mario Corso. Looking at the overall history of Serie A, the top three are Hernan Crespo (13), Giuseppe Meazza (12) and Silvio Piola (eleven). Among foreign players, Lautaro has now broken into the top ten for this statistic.

CALHANOGLU'S GOALS

Since joining Inter in 2021/22, no player has scored more goals from outside the box than Hakan Calhanoglu, who reached 13 with his strike against Roma (the same total as Kevin De Bruyne).

Since the 2017/18 season, his first in Serie A, no midfielder has scored more goals or provided more assists than Calhanoglu, who has recorded 59 goals and 61 assists.

This Serie A season, Hakan has scored 9 goals, averaging one every 164 minutes, his best return in a top-five European league.

THE THURAM FACTOR

With one goal and two assists against Roma, Marcus Thuram reached 20 goal involvements in the 2025/26 season across all competitions. The French forward has scored 13 goals and provided seven assists. Thuram and Lautaro are the only two Serie A players to have been involved in at least 20 goals in each of the last three seasons since Marcus joined Inter.

THE OPPONENT: COMO

Como have been one of the standout surprises of the season. The Lariani are enjoying an excellent campaign and currently sit fourth in the table with 58 points, one ahead of Juventus and five behind third-placed AC Milan. Fabregas’ side are in great form, having picked up 17 points from their last seven matches. During this run, they’ve beaten Juventus, Lecce, Cagliari, Roma and Pisa, while drawing with AC Milan at San Siro and Udinese in their most recent outing.

Como have scored 53 goals and conceded just 22. They boast the third-best attack in the league, behind Inter and Juventus, and at the same time have the best defensive record across Europe’s top five leagues, level with Arsenal. They’ve been unbeaten since February 14, when they lost 2-1 at the Sinigaglia to Fiorentina.

After Sunday’s match, Como will face Inter again on April 21 at San Siro in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final, following a 0-0 draw in the first leg.

They are a young and creative team, with players who thrive in one-on-one situations. Fabregas sets Como up in a 4-2-3-1 system focused on controlling the game through possession, combining strong attacking output with solid defensive organisation. Jean Butez leads Serie A for clean sheets, with 15 to his name. Como’s top scorer is Greek striker Tasos Douvikas, second in the scoring charts with eleven goals, behind Lautaro Martínez on 16. Argentine midfielder Nico Paz has also reached double figures with ten goals and has provided six assists this season.
