The Nerazzurri will be back in action on Sunday at 18:00 CEST for matchday 34 of Serie A

After all the excitement of the Coppa Italia, it's now time to turn our attention back to league action. Inter will take the field on Sunday, 26 April at 18:00 CEST away to Torino on matchday 34 of Serie A. The Nerazzurri are currently top of the table with a twelve-point lead over second-place Napoli.

Inter and Torino will face each other for the third time this season, after their first encounter of the season on the first day of the league campaign; their second encounter was in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. Inter won both games, with a solid 5-0 victory in their season opener at San Siro, while in the cup clash, played at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, the Nerazzurri secured a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Bonny and Diouf.

HEAD TO HEAD

Inter and Torino have faced each other 163 times before, with the Nerazzurri unbeaten in 127 of them (77 victories, 50 draws, and 36 defeats). Torino are the opponent against whom Inter have kept the most clean sheets in the league (74), and the most common result in this clash has been 1-0 to the Nerazzurri. Inter are also on a run of seven consecutive league wins against Torino, with an aggregate score of 17-2: this is their longest winning streak against the Granata, matching their streak between 2002 and 2008.

THE STATS BEHIND THE ENCOUNTER

Inter have come back with renewed energy after the international break. They have recorded three consecutive wins and have scored at least three goals in each match, for a total of twelve goals netted. These numbers highlight the strength of the Nerazzurri attack, the best in the league with 78 goals scored. On the other hand, Torino come into the match having conceded 54 goals: the Granata have the third-worst defence in the league and are the side that have conceded the most goals from outside the box (ten), a category in which Inter rank first with their attack (twelve long-range goals).

Revisiting the first-leg game highlights the variety of Inter's attacking solutions. The scoring opened from a corner thanks to Bastoni's header. It is clear that set pieces have been a strength for Chivu's side this season, with 25 goals coming from set pieces, 16 of which have been corners, both league-leading numbers. However, Torino have conceded only 20.4% of their goals from set pieces; only Juventus (17.2%) have a better percentage. The match was sealed at 5-0 by a goal from Bonny, who came on in the 67th minute: no team has scored more goals from substitutes than Inter, who have totalled twelve, exactly double the six scored by Torino's bench.

Three of the five goals in the first leg came in the second half, as did two of the three goals scored by Cagliari in the most recent league game: Inter remain the most prolific team in every 15-minute interval, with 46 of their 78 goals coming after half-time. Torino, on the other hand, are the side that concede the most goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half (9).

Inter's attacking approach is also evident in their possession stats: they have the second-highest average in the league (54.9%), behind only Como's 62.7%, while Torino are in 19th with 43.5%.

THURAM AND TORINO

When Thuram faces Torino, Marcus Thuram delivers: the Granata are the opponent the French forward has scored against the most in Serie A, with six goals in four meetings. Thuram has scored in three of those four matches, and in last season's clash at San Siro, he scored his only career hat-trick in Europe's top five leagues (on 5 October 2024 at the Meazza). If he scores on Sunday, Marcus would hit a special milestone, his 50th goal in a Nerazzurri shirt.

Thuram is coming off four goals in his last three games. In this league campaign, Tikus has already scored eleven goals and has become the third non-Italian Inter player to score at least ten goals in each of his first three Serie A seasons with the Club, after Zlatan Ibrahimović and István Nyers (the latter achieving it in each of his first five).

DIMARCO: ASSIST RECORD AND 150 WINS

In the match against Cagliari, Federico Dimarco recorded his 16th assist of the season, equalling the record set by Papu Gómez in the 2019/20 campaign. The Nerazzurri full-back could have the sole top spot as early as Sunday against Torino. In the same game, Dimarco could also reach 150 wins for Inter in all competitions.

This season has proved to be Dimarco's most prolific in terms of scoring (six goals), and he has already scored twice against Torino: only against Napoli and Empoli (three) has he scored more. Federico is also the league's top player for attacking contribution (22 goal involvements, with six goals and 16 assists), as well as assists (15), chances created (86), big chances created (30), and successful crosses (91).

CALHANOGLU AND ZIELINSKI

Calhanoglu and Zielinski are two of the key players that Inter have built their attack around. They both have strong records against Torino and are both coming off excellent performances.

Calhanoglu, who hit 50 goals in all competitions for Inter with his brace against Como, has recorded one of his four Serie A multi-goal performances against Torino, with a brace on 28 April 2024. Overall, he has scored three goals against the Granata in the league, and only against Fiorentina (seven) and Napoli (five) has he scored more in Serie A.

Torino, as well as Genoa, is one of the two teams against whom Zielinski has both scored at least three goals and provided at least three assists in Serie A. Following his goal against Cagliari, he could score in back-to-back games in the league for the second time this season, after doing so last January-February.

THE OPPONENT: TORINO

Torino are unbeaten in their last three Serie A games (two wins, one draw) and could make it four positive results as they previously had during a run of six between October and November 2025, when Marco Baroni was still in charge (two wins, four draws).

Since Roberto D'Aversa's arrival, Torino have won all three of their home league games in Serie A and have managed to turn things around after many difficult spells. The Granata are currently twelfth in the table with 40 points and 37 goals (the 13th-best attack in the league) and having conceded 54 (the third-worst defence). D'Aversa's changes are proving fruitful, especially defensively. Since being at the helm, Torino have conceded just seven goals in seven games and have kept three clean sheets (against Lazio, Pisa, and Cremonese), thanks to the strength of the 3-5-2 system.

Meanwhile, their attack is built around the Vlasić-Simeone partnership. The Argentine striker is coming off three consecutive home goals, has scored nine times this season, and could end this campaign in double digits for the first time since 2021/22, when he scored 17 goals for Hellas Verona. While the Croatian midfielder has contributed to ten goals this season (seven goals and three assists), he has already scored against Inter on 5 October 2024. Another attacking option available to D'Aversa is Scottish forward Che Adams, who is second for goals scored as a substitute in Serie A (5) over the last two seasons. In defence, Rafa Obrador has stood out as one of only five defenders born from 2004 onwards to have provided more than one assist in this Serie A campaign.
