Ahead of Inter vs. Udinese on Matchday 4 of Serie A, San Siro welcomed two of Italian athletics’ leading stars: Larissa Iapichino and Sofia Fiorini, both European gold medallists at Birmingham 2026.
Iapichino claimed long jump gold, becoming the first Italian woman in history to win a European outdoor title in the event. She then followed up that achievement by triumphing at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship, held in Budapest on 11 September. Fiorini, meanwhile, produced an extraordinary performance to win the marathon race walk at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, setting a new world record in the event.
The long jumper and race walker took centre stage before kick-off at San Siro, receiving Inter shirts from President and CEO Giuseppe Marotta. It was a special way to celebrate two of Italian athletics’ finest.
