— Aug 30th 2024Impressive display of strength from the Nerazzurri: an own goal by Djimsiti, an outstanding strike by Barella, and a brace from Thuram.
A relentless, unstoppable Inter crushed Atalanta 4-0. A spectacular night at San Siro, illuminated by Marcus Thuram's brace and Nicolò Barella's stunning goal. The Nerazzurri’s start was devastating, racing into a 2-0 lead, the result of constant pressure on the visitors' defence.
The match was opened by Djimsiti’s own goal in the fourth minute, set up by a cross from Thuram following a brilliant play initiated by Pavard's backheel and finished by Mkhitaryan. After a great save by Carnesecchi on a Calhanoglu free-kick, Inter doubled their lead. Pavard's header assist set up Barella, who volleyed from the edge of the area. A magnificent strike that nestled into the net, making San Siro erupt.
The match was one-sided, with Atalanta only coming close to scoring once. Sommer made a save, and Retegui missed the rebound. Thuram was unstoppable, hitting the post in the first half, and then sealing the game with two almost identical goals after the break.
