The two Coppa Italia Frecciarossa finalists receive a private audience: a gift exchange with President Zhang and Coach Simone Inzaghi’s speech
Ahead of the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa final at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome at 21:00 CEST on Wednesday 24 May, Inter and Fiorentina - the two finalists - were received in private audience by Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic.
Inter President Steven Zhang, Vice President Javier Zanetti, CEO Corporate Alessandro Antonello and CEO Sport Giuseppe Marotta led the delegation at the Quirinal Palace, where Coach Simone Inzaghi, the players and staff members were all present.
In the Ballroom (Salone delle Feste) of the Quirinale and in the presence of Coni President Giovanni Malagò, FIGC President Gabriele Gravina and Lega Serie A President Lorenzo Casini, a traditional exchange of gifts took place. President Steven Zhang and Nerazzurri captain Samir Handanovic paid tribute to President Mattarella, who received an Inter shirt.
During the gathering, Coach Simone Inzaghi had the following to say.
“For us, it is a source of pride and a pleasure to be received at the Quirinale for the Coppa Italia final. We feel a sense of responsibility for what we do because positive intentions are needed in sport and football. We must set a good example, leaving aside unnecessary hysteria and upholding the principles of fairness while, at the same time, fighting all forms of violence and discrimination. Sport should be a celebration, and it is absurd that we sometimes forget how important the message we transmit to the youngest members of our society is. Children are watching us; we must never forget that. ”
Simone Inzaghi
