Inter U23 were defeated by Dolomiti Bellunesi on matchday 33 of Group A of Serie C. The hosts went ahead with a brilliant goal from Clemenza in the first half. They doubled their lead in the second half through a header from Mondonico. In the closing minutes, Inter pushed forward in search of a comeback. Cinquegrano’s stoppage-time goal gave the Nerazzurri hope, but there was not enough time left to find the equaliser. Dolomiti Bellunesi won 2-1 at the U-Power Stadium in Monza.
Dolomiti got off to a strong start. Bonatti’s side came out aggressively, applying pressure, and created their first chance as early as the 2nd minute. Lattanzio sent in a cross from the right for Mignanelli, who volleyed from the centre of the box. Calligaris got a touch but couldn’t hold it, and the ball, which was on target, was cleared off the line by Alexiou. Inter tried to respond with a few individual efforts. In the 6th minute Kamate shot from a tight angle, Consiglio made the save, and La Gumina followed up but saw his effort deflected behind for a corner by Gobetti. Four minutes later Topalovic tried his luck from distance with a powerful strike, but Consiglio tipped it over the bar. Dolomiti’s pressing paid off in the 17th minute. From Calligaris' clearance, the defence beat La Gumina to the ball, which fell to Clemenza. He burst forward and unleashed a superb long-range strike that gave Calligaris no chance, flying into the top corner to make it 1-0 to Dolomiti Bellunesi. Two minutes later Inter looked to respond, with Lavelli chasing a long ball and passing it back to Topalovic, but the Slovenian mis-hit his effort. The move was then ruled out for offside against Lavelli. In the 26th minute Dolomiti threatened again on the break: Cossalter drove forward and found Marconi in the box, whose shot was deflected out for a corner. From the resulting set piece, the ball came back to Marconi, who tried to curl a left-footed effort, but Calligaris produced a brilliant save, quickly getting down to push it behind again. Inter tried to push higher up the pitch, but Dolomiti remained dangerous on the counter with quick switches of play. In the 34th minute Mignanelli shot from distance, and a minute later he met Lattanzio’s cross, drove into the box, shrugged off a challenge and shot, lifting the ball over Calligaris. However, the effort lacked power and was cleared at the last moment by Stante, who had come on to replace the injured Prestia. Late in the first half, the Nerazzurri tried to react through Kamate. His cross in the 39th minute flashed across the face of goal, but noone could get on the end of it. In the 44th minute Lavelli laid it off to La Gumina, who mis-hit his shot but won a corner. From the set piece, the striker picked out Fiordilino at the edge of the box, but he too failed to strike it cleanly.
Berenbruch came on for La Gumina in the second half, as Vecchi looked to trouble Dolomiti with a 3-4-2-1. In the 49th minute Mignanelli struck from the edge of the box, Calligaris gathered at the second attempt. Three minutes later Inter threatened: Topalovic’s pass into Lavelli was promising, but he failed to connect cleanly and Consiglio collected easily. A minute later Alexiou pushed forward and delivered a cross from the left, with Lavelli heading on the move, but again Consiglio claimed the ball. The same outcome followed Berenbruch’s effort in the 56th minute. In the 64th minute Toci held off a challenge in the box and beat Calligaris, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Inter needed to raise the tempo and threaten in front of goal, so Vecchi introduced two physical forwards in Iddrissou and Zuberek. However, in the 70th minute Dolomiti doubled their lead. Mignanelli found space on the left and crossed to the far post, where Mondonico rose highest and headed home from close range for 2-0. Inter were startled and nearly conceded again shortly after, as Mignanelli led a counterattack, cut inside onto his left foot and shot wide. In the 76th minute Toci tried his luck again, his effort deflected behind for a corner. In the final stages of the match, the tempo dropped and Inter struggled to create chances, despite a scramble from a corner in the 83rd minute. In the 85th minute Alexiou tried to spark a reaction with a volley from the edge of the box, but it was blocked by Cossalter. Late on, Inter pulled one back through Cinquegrano. Kamate’s driven cross from the left found the defender’s head, and from close range he made it 2-1. Stoppage time turned into a siege, with Inter sending a series of dangerous balls into the box, but Dolomiti held on and it ended 2-1 in Monza.
