The Serie C begins: complete guide to the league

The wait is almost over: after their debut in the Coppa Italia against Lumezzane, Inter U23 are preparing for the start of their Serie C campaign. The Club's new team, led by Stefano Vecchi has been placed in Group A of the Serie C Sky Wifi, the third professional tier of the Italian men's football league. With the official release of fixtures for the 2025/26 season, the Nerazzurri have discovered the details of their league campaign. The dates and times of the first seven league matches have been made official: Inter U23 will begin their campaign on Monday 25 August at 20:30 CEST against Novara. THE RULES

There are 60 teams taking part in the Serie C Sky Wifi 2025/26, divided into three groups of 20 teams. The group is structured with home and away matches meaning every team will play a total of 38 matches. At the end of the season, the teams that finish first in each group, will be promoted to Serie B: the fourth promoted team will be determined by the play-offs. 28 clubs will take in the Serie C play-offs. Teams finishing from second to tenth place in each group will qualify, alongside the winner of the Coppa Italia Serie C.

Nine teams will be relegated to Serie D: three teams finishing last in each group will go down, while the other six will determined by play-outs. The teams that finished second, third, fourth and fifth from bottom in each group will take part.

Football Video Support will also feature for the first time in Serie C Sky Wifi 2025/26, an innovative technological instrument that will help the referees during the matches. A monitor will be installed in each stadium, which will be managed by a review operator from the CAN C. The Coaches will have two FVS cards that can be given to the fourth official to review the action of the referee: if the on-field decision is changed, the card will be returned; if it is not, the coach will lose the slot. Goals will still be reviewed by the fourth official, who, in case of a suspected irregularity, can call the referee to review the action. However, if the infraction is clear, they can directly suggest disallowing the goal.
