Under 23
— Jul 24th 2025The first words of the new Inter U23 manager
Stefano Vecchi's bond with Inter is based on passion, dedication and belonging. It is a special link that is strengthening today with both excitement and pride: Stefano Vecchi is the new Inter U23 manager.
It's a new Nerazzurri adventure for the manager from Bergamo, who is back representing our colours after already achieving so much in the Inter youth sector. His journey at the club began many years ago, indeed as a player, with his first steps in our academy. He then continued his path from the bench, from Summer 2014, when he took charge of the Primavera.
At the helm of the Nerazzurri U19s, Stefano Vecchi knew how to get results and make the most of talent, managing record achievements. In four seasons, he led Inter to seven finals, winning six prestigious trophies for the club: from the 2015 Viareggio Cup, to the 2015/16 Primavera TIM Cup, to the 2016/17 Scudetto, to winning the 70th edition of the Viareggio Cup and the first Primavera Supercup in our history, both won in the extraordinary 2017/18 season.
Key elements of his work have always been professionalism, skill and authentic passion for the Nerazzurri, qualities that also led him to take charge of the first team twice in the 2016/17 season.
After four unforgettable years with Inter, Vecchi continued his professional career, with important experiences that bolstered his technical and human skills. Hit return today represents a continuation of our values, as well as another step forward in the Club's project, with the U23s strengthening the connection between the youth sector and the first team.
These are his first words with Inter TV:
“As a young boy, I had my first emotions wearing this shirt, and now I have many more as a manager. This place brings back great memories both from my childhood, and from my years as a manager. I am back here to experience those emotions again. I have always believed that the one step between the Primavera and the first team is hugely important for the growth of the boys. On behalf of the owners, I feel a great commitment to embark on a journey and I am honoured that the club and the directors chose me for this adventure as I have great experience at Inter and leading a great project like this makes me proud. Serie C is a competitive league and it pushes the boys into growing really well. It is an opportunity for those in the youth sector to continuously face adult teams in competitive conditions, on a technical and mental level. Therefore it will be just as much a physical as a mental step to open the door to the first team. You will need great passion, humility, awareness, determination, concentration and daily dedication to reach the goal, which in this case is for the boys to make the first team. The U23 training is preparatory as some boys may go directly to the first team, and if not, others will be much more prepared for other experiences. At the same time, you have to win in the league and we need to combine training these players with getting results as when you wear this shirt, you have to get results. I have many emotions and memories and they come out even more when I see boys that I trained competing in Serie A. Seeing players like Federico Dimarco leading at San Siro makes me proud every time as I know that I gave something to these boys. A mix of young and above-age players? Part of our job is also identifying players who can be leaders, who aren't just important footballers but important men because me and my staff need to pass on what the category means. The more experienced players coming in will not only be valued for their technique, but also their moral and human assets. They must explain the path to our youngest players, set examples and be good teammates. The young players must do well to follow the staff with their enthusiasm and exuberance. ”
