Inter fall to comeback defeat against Udinese

Inter suffered their first defeat of the season, losing at home to Udinese in a game where fortune did not favour the Nerazzurri. Chivu’s side took the lead in the 17th minute through Dumfries, who was set up by Thuram in the box. Udinese levelled after 29 minutes when Davis converted a penalty after VAR had spotted a handball by Dumfries. Just before half-time, Atta produced a fine finish from outside the box to make it 2–1, which would prove to be the final score.

The second half was dominated by Inter, who threw everything forward in search of an equaliser. Dimarco looked to have brought the Nerazzurri level with an excellent strike, only for VAR to rule it out due to Thuram’s offside position. The Nerazzurri created chance after chance, finishing the match with four forwards, but were unable to break down Udinese’s stubborn defence. After the upcoming international break, Inter will be back in action on Saturday 13 September at Juventus.
