Inter vs. Cremonese, the complete guide
Team
— Oct 4th 2025Stats and fun facts on the game this Saturday evening
San Siro is set to host Inter's matchday 6 fixture against Cremonese, in a meeting steeped in history. Chivu's side go into it on nine points, as they sit in third place. They have scored 13 goals and conceded seven so far this season.
HEAD TO HEAD
The head-to-head record between Inter and Cremonese is clear: in 16 meetings, the Nerazzurri have won 13, drawn two and lost just one.
Cremonese have lost to Inter more than any other team in Serie A. At the Meazza, the Nerazzurri have won six of their last eight against the Grigiorossi, including their last two (both by two goals). Furthermore, Inter have won each of their home games against Cremonese when they have come in the first half of a league campaign: five out of five.
INTER'S FORM
Chivu's men have been compact and consistent in their most recent outings. They have kept five clean sheets in their last nine in the league, including against Cagliari, one more than in the previous 17 in Serie A.
Inter go into it following four straight wins in all competitions and didn't concede a single goal in their last two. One of the Nerazzurri's trademarks is their ability to develop play and threaten out wide. No side has attempted more crosses from open play in Serie A this season (92), nor have they completed more crosses (27) or completed more when including corners (42). This supremacy has led to four goals, a league high.
Inter's aerial threat is confirmed by the stats: four headed goals, fewer only than Barcelona and Arsenal in Europe's top 5 leagues (five apiece).
“La Cremonese è una squadra fisica, organizzata e ben allenata. Conosce i propri limiti, ma ha un allenatore bravo che sa trasformare il gruppo. Abbiamo trovato equilibrio e siamo migliorati, anche nel modo di attaccare. Sono contento di questo, perché parto sempre dall’idea di non subire gol: voglio una squadra attenta, con la voglia di difendere e non concedere. ”
Cristian Chivu
CAPTAIN CONSISTENT
Lautaro has scored in each of his last two games in all competitions and is looking for a third goal in a row for the first time since April. Our captain and talisman, the Argentinian continues to provide the team with an outlet and is key both in Italy and Europe.
BARELLA AND CREMONESE
Nicolò Barella has fond memories of Cremonese. In the last meeting between the two teams at San Siro in Serie A, on 30 August 2022, the midfielder scored and provided an assist in the hosts' 3-1 win. A goal on Sunday would make him the third midfielder to score in each of the last nine Serie A seasons, alongside Pellegrini and Çalhanoglu.
THE DIMARCO-DUMFRIES EFFECT
In the early period of the campaign, Federico Dimarco has confirmed his key role in Inter's offence. He has 16 chances created, the highest of any defender in Serie A this season. In Europe's top 5 leagues, only RB Leipzig's David Raum has more. Dimarco's shooting and crossing are crucial weapons for the Nerazzurri.
Fresh from scoring against Slavia Praha in midweek, Denzel Dumfries has shown, once again, that he is one of Europe's most clinical defenders. Since his arrival in Italy, the only defenders in Europe's top 5 leagues with more goals are Hakimi (25) and Frimpong (31). His ability to combine hard running with fine finishing makes him a vital component of this Inter team.
OUR OPPONENTS: CREMONESE
Davide Nicola's Grigiorossi have started the season with gusto and bravery and are still unbeaten in the league. Opening day was a memorable one, as Cremonese beat AC Milan 2-1 at San Siro, thanks to a stunning Bonazzoli bicycle kick to win it. On matchday 2, they got their second win of the season, beating Sassuolo 3-2 at the Zini.
After a sensational start, they have discovered plenty of solidity at the back, recording three straight draws: 0-0 against Verona and Parma and 1-1 away at Como. With nine points, they are level with Inter and Atalanta and are the best-performing side out of the newly-promoted teams.
Despite plenty of squad movement in the summer, Cremonese are a team that plays with intensity and have shown that they can compete with the top clubs. At San Siro, Nicola should opt for a 3-5-2 formation, with Silvestri between the sticks, a back three of Terracciano, Baschirotto and Bianchetti, Zerbin, Biondo, Grassi, Payero and Pezzella in midfield, with Bonazzoli and Sanabria up top.
“Sfidiamo un'Inter molto forte, la classica squadra che sa fare tutto e tutto molto bene. Andiamo a imparare dai più forti, è una grandiosa opportunità per farti capire il giusto livello da raggiungere, anche solo per coltivare dei sogni. Chivu ha già portato le sue idee. Per poter essere efficaci dobbiamo essere costantemente squadra.”
Davide Nicola
