The Inter Captain became the fourth-highest scorer in Argentina's history

85 minutes, a start, goal and assist. This is how Lautaro Martínez's match for Argentina went, which saw them run out 2-0 winners against Angola. The Inter captain broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute with a first-time strike, making the most of Lionel Messi's assist, who then went on to score Argentina's second, thanks to Lautaro's assist.

LAUTARO KEEPS MAKING HISTORY FOR ARGENTINA

A useful goal for the personal rankings as Lautaro became the fourth-highest scorer in Argentina's history. The Inter Captain scored his 36th goal, overtaking Crespo. The next person to chase is Aguero, on 41 goals. Ahead of him are Batistuta (55) and Messi (115).

His first for Argentina came on 11 October 2019, at just twenty years of age in a friendly against Iraq. He's scored 14 in international friendlies, eleven in World Cup qualifiers and ten in the Copa America, a competition in which he was the top scorer in the 2024 editions (five goals). He also scored in the "Finalissima" against Italy on 1 June 2022.
