Mesmerised, just like everyone else at San Siro, Cristian Chivu shouted with joy, embracing his players after Sucic's goal that made it 3-2 and completed the comeback. Inter have booked a spot in the Coppa Italia final: the win over Como opens the doors of the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, where they will face either Atalanta or Lazio on 13 May.
These were the coach's comments at the end of an incredible game.
“It's a team effort: since the start of the season, everyone has been doing really well, and whoever is called up always delivers. Those who came on today read the game well, understood what needed to be done, and made a huge impact, coming onto the pitch with courage. Petar, Andry, Pio, everyone gave their all. We've earned this moment through hard work and results, putting ourselves in a position to aspire to the league title and the Coppa Italia. We were aware of how strong Como are; they have the best defence, and despite that, we still managed to score against them. Making a comeback twice against Como just a few days apart is something only "Pazza Inter" can do. Dumfries made himself available to play the final minutes; he has some discomfort in his tendon, and we had discussed what would be best before the game. He also understood the moment. All the players understand they have a responsibility to this team and this Club, and they're committed to continuing the hard work they've been doing over the season. Andy Diouf came on very well, often taking on his man in one-on-one situations and causing problems for the opposition. The players wanted to make the most of the chances they had and reach the final and fight to reach our goals. Mourinho? I don't like to be in the headlines. I'm just Cristian. I'm passionate about what I do and the team I coach. I'm trying to do my job in the best way possible to thank those who believed in me, for this incredible group, and to achieve our goals. ”
