The Nerazzurri coach's comments after the Derby di Milano

Inter are defeated in the Derby della Madonnina as Estupiñán's goal in the first half secures all three points for the Rossoneri. The Nerazzurri still remain comfortably at the top of the Serie A standings, 7 points clear.

After the match, the Nerazzurri coach Cristian Chivu analysed the team's performance:

“We were not at our best in the first half, and then their goal really affected us. In the second half, for the first 20 minutes, we found some momentum and tried to respond with a few chances. Towards the end, we did everything to break down their low block; we even changed formation but unfortunately, we just couldn't find the equaliser. We didn't play well. We weren't organised and never really had clear balls to cross from the flank. We didn't have the opportunity to attack early or find a clear shot. The first half lacked sharpness. They were sitting deep and waiting to do damage on the counter. We need to improve and keep building on the good things we've done so far. We could and should have done better. Our style of play relies heavily on our forwards, and today they were lacking slightly, but I'm pleased with the lads' effort. It's great for two young players to experience games like this. We needed more intensity and to make better use of our chances. I'm focused on our performance, on my decisions, and my mistakes. There are still ten games ahead of us, and we need to keep going with the strengths we've already shown. We're still seven points clear, nothing is different for us, and that would have been true even if we had achieved a more positive result. ”
