Inzaghi: "A great performance from Inter; we deserved the win"

A hard-fought and intense match saw Inter and Napoli face off with great energy. A chess-like game, full of intriguing tactical solutions, with Inter maintaining a solid structure from the first to the last minute. It was a positive performance from the Nerazzurri, though the victory eluded them due to small details, as highlighted by Simone Inzaghi in his post-match comments:

“I'm satisfied with the performance of my players. I congratulated the team. If there was a team that deserved to win today, it was us. In the second half, there was no match. In the first half, however, we conceded from a set piece, where we could have done better. Napoli is a very strong team, even more so when you see them live. After the effort against Arsenal on Wednesday, I didn't expect a game like this. In the second half, I didn't even want to make substitutions because we were solid and didn't lose our shape. Plus, we hit the post twice and missed a penalty. There's been great physical growth. We were excellent against a Napoli team full of quality. It will be a balanced league, but I saw a great Inter. Sommer didn't make a single save, and we created without conceding much to Napoli, who rightfully sits at the top of the table. We're working on reducing the goals conceded, and we're improving a lot, this will continue with more hard work. These last two matches leave me confident. There's a lot of trust in the team. But football is strange. For the goal we conceded, there was a deflection, and the defender kept McTominay onside. These are details, but we need to stay united as we are. We've achieved 8 wins and 2 draws. Of course, being Inter, we would have preferred 10 out of 10.”
