A historic goal, one that set Inter on their way at the Unipol Domus. Lautaro Martinez scored his 12th goal in Serie A against Cagliari in 12 games. The Rossoblu are El Toro's favourite victims, as he reaches 117 Serie A goals overall, becoming Inter’s fifth-highest scorer in Italian league history, behind Giuseppe Meazza (197), Benito Lorenzi (138), Istvan Nyers (133), and Alessandro Altobelli (128).
After the match against Cagliari, Lautaro reflected on Inter’s performance:
“For sure, coming here is always difficult. The stadium is small and you can really hear the fans. It was important for us to come into the game with the right attitude. We discussed it a lot, and I think we deserved the win. After the mistakes we made, we had to give more, and that’s exactly what we’re doing. We are always looking to improve, we do what the Coach tells us to because we want the best for Inter and the squad. I am very happy with and proud of today's game. Winning is important. We've gone all the way in every competition for years, and we need to keep this up. We have a strong, united group that always fights for Inter. We picked up three important points and need to keep doing so. Now we have midweek football, we need to prepare ourselves well for the Champions League. We've known Pio since his Primavera days. He works hard and has the right mindset, but it's important to not overload him with pressure. He's young and must stay focused. We support him because he’s important for the team and still developing. He has real quality and is already showing his value. ”
