Lautaro, a captain's performance: "We give our all for Inter!"
Team
— Feb 22nd 2025A goal worth its weight in three points, a strike as heavy as a rock to bounce back after the defeat against Juventus. Lautaro Martinez led Inter past Genoa with a performance which was full of heart, grit and infinite personality. The goal scored in the 78th minute is El Toro's tenth of the league campaign: the Inter captain became the first foreign player in Inter's history to get into double digits for goals scored in six different Serie A seasons. El Toro, the Lega Serie A MVP for the match, shared his thoughts at the end of the match:
“We knew that we were coming off of a defeat which hurt us a lot, given everything that it meant, but we're still standing. We understand the fans, but we always focus on ourselves and the locker room, we spoke amongst ourselves and the important thing is that the team is always compact and united, using the losses as a source of motivation to give our all. This group gives their all for this jersey, the fans can rest assured. The message is for us: we're on top today, but we've dropped important points along the way, we need to work, grow and improve: games like this today shape us. It's great to score, but the team is the most important thing. We didn't play too well, but it was important to get the three points. The hands to my ears after the goal? When people talk so much, it gets annoying, but I keep moving forward on my path. A message to Napoli? The only message we're sending is that we are here. ”
