Lautaro, 4 goals in 35 minutes: "Scoring is important, but it's all about helping Inter"

— Sep 30th 2023The thoughts of the Argentinian striker, who bagged four times in Salerno
It was an extraordinary night for Lautaro Martinez, who came off the bench to score four goals in 35 minutes against Salernitana at the Stadio Arechi. El Toro has become the first player in Serie A history to bag four goals as a substitute. After this evening's victory over Salernitana, the Argentinian had the following to say to DAZN and Inter TV:
“Salernitana are an excellent side, and we knew that it wouldn’t be easy. They’re struggling at the moment and the atmosphere here is very loud, but we needed to play our game and find the answers for ourselves. We don’t focus on criticism; instead, we stay concentrated on our work, preparing well for matches and displaying this out on the pitch. I’m happy when I help the team, and I’m happy for Inter when I score. For the team, it’s important to win and remain top of the table. Now, we can think about the Champions League. For a player, it’s important to score, but my focus is on the team. If I finish as the top scorer in the division, it means that I’ve really helped the team and my teammates. We’re strong and compact, work for each other and want to grow still further. Thuram is a very strong player and shows real commitment. He’s been used to playing a different kind of football, but he’s learning so much and is a great guy. I’ll give my son the ball that I’m taking home with me.”

Benjamin Pavard also spoke to Inter TV after Salernitana vs. Inter:
“This is a very important win from a mental perspective because we’ve managed to respond following our defeat to Sassuolo. I knew that Italian football was competitive and very tactical, and I’m very happy to be playing here and for this team. Now, I need to carry on improving. We’ll enjoy this win tonight, but then we’ll start looking ahead to our next Champions League match, which is just around the corner. We’ll need to recover because it’s a very important game.”
