— Apr 1st 2023The Armenian starred in Inter vs Fiorentina: "I'm disappointed I didn't score after that great play in the first half"
Halfway through the first half of Inter v Fiorentina, Henrikh Mkhitaryan tried to score one of the most beautiful goals of his career: first after a breakaway with outstanding dribbling, then with an overhead kick. One touch away from scoring, one touch away from a masterpiece. He had no luck, as Inter were beaten at San Siro by Fiorentina. The Armenian midfielder commented on the Nerazzurri's loss, coming close to scoring on numerous occasions and fooled by Bonaventura's goal.
“We should have closed out the game in the first half, I feel guilty for not scoring that goal in the first half. In the first 45 minutes, we should have scored three or four goals, including mine: I am disappointed for not scoring after my own move. The fact is that we can't find the goal, but I don't think it's a psychological aspect. We simply have too much desire to score, sometimes we don't have the lucidity and calmness to score goals. We can and we definitely have to improve. We are a mature team, we talk to each other and understand what we can improve on because this is a difficult month. We have to be mentally fresh because we will play other matches even more difficult than tonight. With the Coppa Italia and the Champions League there's the Championship, we have to be in the top four, we have to play better, score and win games. We don't look at the other teams, we have to look at ourselves only. On Tuesday we're going to play Juventus: we need a clear mind, we mustn't get ahead, there are two games.”
