Team
— Apr 19th 2023The post-match reaction after the second leg against Benfica, which saw the Nerazzurri progress to the Champions League semi-finals
The evening ended just the way it began: San Siro was rocking. The team running over to the fans, Inter into the semis: it was a sight to behold. We caught up with some of the players after the game: Dumfries was full of energy, Onana overjoyed, Dimarco emotional and Correa happy to have scored to end the tie as a contest:
“It was really important for us to go through to the semis. It's an amazing achievement that we deserved. It was nice to score. We're happy and we're going into the semi-final to do well. That goal will give me confidence; it's for my family who always support me. I'm happy for Lauti as well. We're pleased to be going through but now we need to focus on the league and win as many games as possible.”

Sebastiano Esposito: skills, goals and assists
“We're really happy because Inter haven't gone through to this stage for many years. It's great but we still need to take that last step to go even further. We played well apart from the odd lapse in concentration for their goals but we did well and we're pleased. I work hard all week to try to provide assists for my teammates but the most important thing is that the team wins. Now we'll think about our next games and then AC Milan. Games at this level are always difficult, against good teams, right from the group stage, so we're happy. The atmosphere tonight was amazing. It was incredible.”
Federico Dimarco
“We're really pleased. We gave it our all against a strong side. We're a great group. To play for Inter, you must never be afraid and I'm really happy with this achievement. We believed in ourselves from minute one and we worked really hard. I'm also happy for players like Lautaro and Tucu, who know how to impact games. Playing in this shirt, for such a big Club, it gives you a lot. Playing with this group of players it really easy and I've been lucky enough to learn a lot from a great goalkeeper in Samir Handanovic.”
Andrè Onana
“I'm really happy to have reached this goal and to be going through to the semis. Benfica are a really good team; I know it would be hard. I'm really proud of my teammates. We now need to take this momentum into the league and do well there too. The atmosphere tonight was fantastic; we're really happy and we're looking forward.”
